Distressed Spritz & Flick Tag & Texana Designs Stamps

This basic spritz and flick tag was created when I was going through the Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 01 several years ago.  When going though and organizing my tags I decided to complete it.

 I wanted to create a border so I chose the Jam'n Barbed Wire strip to stamp down the left hand side of the tag.  I stamped it then stamped a second generation to the left of the first stamp..  This adds a bit of interest and depth.

While I had the stamp out, I used Stazon Timber Brown and stamped the twill for the tag top.  I stamped both sides since I was going to staple the twill instead of trying to tie it.

Next I wanted to play with stamping on fun foam.  I inked up the Texas (state) stamp so that it was ready to go.  Next I heated the fun foam until it was warm and pliable.  I immediately stamped onto the foam and held constant pressure for several seconds.  This created a impression that was also inked.  It's hard to get a good photograph that shows the detail, but I tried.  I cut around the shape and added another layer of foam behind it to add more dimension to the focal point of the tag.

Every creation needs a title.  I used the Texana Designs banner and sentiment "Home is deep in the heart of Texas".  The banner was too wide for the tag (and my matching scrap was too small for the stamp) so I stamped it a bit crooked on the gingham and trimmed the left side.

Jam'n House Border Stamps

One great stamp, five great looks.  The first card I simply stamped the house border and colored the houses and added a few lights with gel pens.  The second card I cut the houses apart and staggered them around the snow drifts.  The third card I wanted to try the glowing lights technique from Splitcoast Stampers so I stamped and embossed with black on black cardstock and used chalk pastels to add window lighting and Christmas lights.  The tag I made last year by stamping the house border on shrink plastic.  The final card is one I tried to create last year using liquid applique and Delta Decorative Snow.  That technique needs some practice, but it was fun.

Welcome...

What could be more welcoming than a bluebonnet wreath on your front door? I love the Jam'n Barbed Wire Wreath with the bluebonnets. I designed a front door using Sure Cuts Alot just for this stamp. I stamped the wreath and the "welcome" on acetate with staz-on for a clear background or glass window. For the wreath I flipped the acetate over and colored the flowers and bow with copic markers. I used a silver paint pen to shade the wreath. When I turned it over the flowers were too transparent, so I stamped the flowers again and colored them with stardust gelly pens. I adhered them slightly offset on top of the acetate. Now I have more 3-D and a little shadowing also. A small silver brad nail holds the wreath in place and a larger silver brad makes the doorknob.

I wanted something like wallpaper on the inside of the card and found an ancient piece of paper in my stash that looks like stucco. It just need a little Texas greeting wall hanging. The barbed wire heart and "Home is Deep in the Heart of Texas" stamps worked beautifully. I stamped it on thin wood scrapbook paper and paper pieced it on the wall.
