Happy Birthday Jillian!

The pressure is on... Jillian wants a card cooler than the one I made for her the previous year.  This year I think I surprised her!  I was as tickled with the card as she was!

Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 5 - Gold Leafing with Sticky Powder

Sticky Embossing with Gold Leafing
Ah, yes... much better after applying a darker green for the tree and adding red stickles glitter to the stars and barbed wire.

Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 2 - Embossing through Stencils

Embossing through Stencils
This tag turned out really cool even before I put the stamped images on it.  I first embossed the hat in copper on the blue kraft core paper, but it just didn't look right after I had it cut out.  So I stamped and embossed with Zing Vanilla on the blue.  That was better but a little too light.  I went over it with a brown blending foam and distressed it a little.  Then I needed a little something to put my sentiment on.  Might as well use the trash... the flip sid of the hat I didn't like worked like a charm!

The pictures just don't do this technique justice.  I below are a couple of close ups where you can see the clear distress powder over the distress ink through the stencils.

If you haven't signed up for Creative Chemistry 101 and 102, you don't know what you are missing!

Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 5 - Sticky Powder with Glitter

Sticky Powder with Glitter
I found that this technique takes some practice.  Tim made it look so very easy with those multicolored snowflakes and using Sticky Embossing Powder to adhere the glitter.  I will just have to keep practicing.

I did learn one thing.... sticky embossing powder and a detailed stamp just don't work (see below).  Note to self:  don't do that again!

I just love the way the Texana Designs - Jam'n Stamps worked with this design.  The snowflake border is done with the glitter.  The Snowperson is paper pieced and after coloring it, I covered it with Frosted Film.  I also used the Frosted Film on the snow drift die cut.  I'm loving the glimmer from that frosted film.

Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 2 Paint Monoprint

Paint Monoprint
Here's a Day 2 tag that I completed with a sentiment and stamp from Texana Designs.  The butterfly was stamped using a technique from Creative Chemistry 101 - Custom Stamp Pad

Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 3 Distress Glitters

Distress Clear Rock Candy Glitter
Distress Colored Glitter
Here are two side by side comparisons of  the distress glitters.  The leaves were first colored with distress inks and then Clear Rock Candy Glitter was applied.  The tree and reindeer were inked with a color and then Distress colored glitter applied.
